In the introductory video below, you will get a quick look at the SmartVPS management tools available in the Account Panel. That's where you can monitor the usage of your SmartVPS, set up hosting plans, and open hosting accounts. You have access to dynamic graphics that show traffic, CPU, and disk space usage statistics. The detailed statistics are there to help you adjust the parameters of your hosting plans and the usage of your hosting accounts in order to get the most out of your SmartVPS.
Leave the boring stuff to us – we will move and test your website on our infrastructure free of charge, usually within 24 to 48 hours of receiving your request.
All Managed VPS plans get two dedicated IP addresses. One IP address is for the hosting service, and the other is for system use (e.g. it can be set as an alternative IP address for the SMTP server). You can also purchase additional dedicated IP addresses at any time.
All hosting servers are monitored 24/7 by automated systems and by humans. Our professional support team is available 24/7, ready to assist you with any hosting-related questions or issues you may have.
All Managed VPS plans come preinstalled with everything you need. Our system administrators will also take care of OS updates as well as all system software updates (web server, mail server, PHP, FTP server, security patches, etc.). This way you can focus on your business and leave server administration to us.
On all Managed VPS plans the accounts are backed up every 12 hours on a separate machine. Backups are kept for 15 days on separate storage servers to ensure failover availability in a worst-case scenario.
With our CPU Burst technology, your server gets more CPU cores depending on its CPU utilization. This gives you additional performance at no extra cost. Our stats show that most VPS accounts take advantage of CPU Burst 99% of the time.
What is a VPS?
VPS stands for Virtual Private Server. Thanks to modern virtualization software (we use KVM), one physical server can be split into multiple virtual servers, allowing more efficient use of the server resources and lower prices for compute services.
What is the difference between managed and unmanaged VPS hosting?
On a managed VPS server, all software required for running websites, email, and databases is already installed, configured and tuned. On an unmanaged server, you need to install the required server software and configure it. On a managed VPS server, our system administrators take care of all security and performance updates. On an unmanaged VPS server, you need to monitor for updates yourself and apply them on your own.
What is the difference between the SmartVPS plans and the Startup, FirstClass and Ultimate plans?
The SmartVPS plans are tailored for web developers, agencies, and resellers, allowing them to easily manage the hosting services for their clients. The SmartVPS platform gives ICDSoft partners the freedom to host and manage multiple web projects under separate hosting accounts, or as separate websites under the same account using the "Addon Domains" feature. There is no problem to use a SmartVPS plan for a single website, but a more suitable option in this case might be our High-perforfmance VPS plans - Startup, First Class, and Ultimate.
The Startup, First Class, and Ultimate VPS plans are designed to provide a flexible and powerful solution for a resource-demanding website. These VPS plans offer plenty of resources that the account owner can utilize as they see fit, and provide scaling options to help the account owner find the most suitable platform for their requirements.
You could still add more websites to the Startup, First Class, and Ultimate plans, but there's a hard limit, while the SmartVPS plans offer unlimited websites.
When should I consider the SmartVPS plans?
We have designed the SmartVPS plans for customers that need more flexibility and want to customize the hosting accounts they use or resell. These plans allow you to set up custom resource limits for your accounts so that you can take full advantage of the resources at your disposal.
Additionally, you can host unlimited websites on a single SmartVPS account—simply stay within your resource limits and add as many sites as you need.
When should I consider the managed VPS plans (Startup and First Class)?
We have designed our managed VPS plans for customers with sites that have outgrown the resources of the shared hosting environment. You can host popular sites, sites gone viral, sites with high CPU usage, etc. With our managed VPS plans you will keep the user-friendly feel of our shared services, but you will take advantage of way more system resources.
When should I consider the Ultimate plan?
The Ultimate plan is our most powerful VPS solution. You get 8 CPU cores, 32 GB of RAM, and 1 TB of SSD space. These resources will allow you to host almost any site on the Internet. The Ultimate plan is meant to host very popular sites or complex resource-demanding software. In short, it's meant for sites that demand even more resources than the Startup and First Class plans can handle.
Additionally, with the abundant resources available, you can host multiple websites alongside your main, resource-intensive one.
What is the difference between VPS and Shared Hosting?
What is the difference between VPS and Cloud Hosting?
Cloud hosting services are actually very similar to VPS services. The main advantage of cloud services is the potential for unlimited and/or dynamic scalability of the resources. With our VPS plans, you can also scale up and down, but this process cannot be automated.
What does fully managed hosting mean?
Fully managed VPS hosting means that the server hardware and software is fully managed by us. This includes updates to the operating system, to the web server, mail server, database server, etc. We also monitor the server performance and uptime 24/7.
How to set up VPS hosting?
With unmanaged VPS hosting, you need to set up your hosting environment yourself. We offer only managed VPS hosting services. With our VPS hosting, you don't need to perform any server configuration or installation. Your VPS instance is ready in minutes and you can deploy your website, or create your email accounts right away.
How many websites can I host?
On the SmartVPS plans, we don't limit the number of websites you can host. You're only limited by the resources allocated to your VPS plan. The Startup, First Class, and Ultimate VPS plans can host a fixed number of websites. Check the comparison table above for specific limits.
The main difference from shared hosting is that we won't take measures if your account "uses too many resources". You have dedicated server resources to use in full, and there's no way for you to affect other users on the server.
How do I manage my VPS?
You can manage your VPS server through the free reseller Account Panel. You can create and manage hosting accounts on your SmartVPS through that interface. This is where you can configure the limits for your hosting accounts.
Do you offer a hosting Control Panel with your VPS plans?
We use an in-house built Control Panel, and it comes bundled with each VPS hosting account for free. Each hosting account you create on your VPS server will also have its own hosting Control Panel.
Do you back up my data?
Yes, we do. We create system backups every 12 hours, and we keep them at a remote server for up to 15 days.
What software is available on my account?
The VPS accounts have access to all software available to the shared plans, such as WP-CLI, multiple PHP interpreters, Drush, GIT, and others. Some features are available only to VPS accounts including, but not limited to, PHP-FPM, OPcache, Redis, Memcached, FFMPEG, Node.js (WebApps), and others.
What web software can I run on my account?
Our servers run Linux and the server-side scripting languages we support are PHP, Perl, Python, TCL, and Ruby. PHP and Perl are more popular and widely spread languages and in general you can find more and better supported products written in them. We also support MySQL.
You can run WordPress, Joomla, phpBB3, osCommerce, ZenCart, Baikal, SMF, Magento, XOOPS, e107, SugarCRM, Coppermine, WebCalendar, MODX, TikiWiki, MediaWiki, Concrete5, PrestaShop, WooCommerce, Piwik/Matomo, OpenCart, LimeSurvey, Nextcloud, and many others.
You can find a list of awesome software you can host with us here. You can find installation instructions in our Knowledge Base.
Can I install additional modules/software on my account?
Adding modules/software without extensive testing can affect the software environment and it may not be possible for us to honor all requests regarding additional software. If you need anything specific, please contact our support team, and we will review your request.
Are there any hardware or software limits on the VPS plans?
Each VPS server is limited to the resources available for its plan: CPU cores, RAM, disk space, inodes, etc. When setting up individual hosting accounts on a SmartVPS, you can customize the limits for each account such as disk space, inodes, memory, processes, etc.
Do I have root access?
You have SSH access to the server, but you don't have root access. This is a managed service, and the system services are set up and managed by us.
How does CPU Burst work?
Regardless of the number of dedicated CPU cores a VPS plan has, our CPU Burst technology allows it to use at least 8 CPU cores in order to speed up the execution of all tasks. If the server exceeds its CPU usage quota within a two-hour window (the quota depends on the number of dedicated CPU cores), the system automatically reverts the number of CPU cores back to the number allowed for the current VPS plan.
The CPU usage of the VPS is checked every two hours, and if the server is below its CPU usage quota, the system will automatically enable CPU Burst for it again, giving it more CPU cores at least for the next two hours.
Basically, in times when the CPU cores available on the server are not fully utilized and there is idle CPU power we can give you as CPU Burst, we do it and we don't charge you extra for the additional CPU cores. And even when the CPU usage of your VPS does not allow it to use CPU Burst, it still gets all dedicated CPU cores that are included in the plan.
What should I know about the free domain and the SSL certificate I get with my managed VPS plan?
You can get a free domain name and a free SSL certificate with each Startup, First Class, and Ultimate plan. Even if you order just a single month of service, you get a domain name and an SSL certificate valid for a year.
You can choose among all TLDs that we offer for registration. You can register a new domain, renew an existing domain registered by us, or transfer an existing domain currently registered elsewhere. Note that the free domain offer does not cover the price of domains sold on domain auction sites or similar.
As for the free SSL certificate, you can choose between a RapidSSL certificate and a Sectigo Essential certificate.
To get your free domain and/or SSL certificate, just contact our Support Team after you have the account opened.
You can issue free SSL certificates from Let's Encrypt through the Control Panel of all VPS plans.
How is billing organized?
VPS plans are paid on a monthly basis. You can also pay for your VPS account for several months in advance.
Is there a money-back guarantee?
There is a fifteen-day money-back guarantee on your first month subscription.
Can I upgrade an existing account to a VPS plan?
Yes, you can upgrade an existing account to a Managed VPS plan. The upgrade requires the migration of the account to the VPS platform. You need to contact our support team to schedule the migration.
